As the first anniversary approaches for the Pokémon Sleep app on July 17th, the sleep health tracking application created by the Pokémon Company just last year has already surpassed the $100 million earnings mark to the surprise of many customers.
As reported by PocketGamer, despite the skepticism of many Pokémon fans upon the apps reveal and release last year, Pokémon Sleep has proven itself to by quite the hit in its home country of Japan. Of the $100 million earnings, roughly $73 million is reported to come from Japan alone. The United States comes in second, with earnings of $15 million, Taiwan in third with earnings of $4 million, and the remaining $8 million spread between other global countries that the application released in.
In-game events have also proven themselves to be highly successful with the 2023 Holiday event in December setting a new record, bringing in over $4 million in earnings over the course of a single week.
Not only has the application surpassed a significant earnings milestone, but the Pokémon Company also reports that the game has managed to surpass the 20 million downloads mark as well ahead of the first-anniversary special in-game event.
While this amount may seem small compared to other games under the Pokémon banner such as Pokémon GO, or mainstream game releases, the success of what serves as more of a sleep tracking health application rather than a full game may be an indication of the Pokémon Brand branching out into new products and services in the future.
If you’re interested in trying Pokémon Sleep, now is the perfect time to start as the First Anniversary Lead-Up Gift Week continues, offering in-app rewards and other items to celebrate the first anniversary event.
