In a new addition to available accessories for the Switch, Nintendo has finally announced an official dedicated charging stand for Switch Joy-Cons. Previously, without the usage of a third-party product, the only method of charging Joy-Cons for the switch was to connect them to the console itself. Though simple to do, it could cause occasional inconveniences for owners of multiple pairs of Joy-Cons due to needing to change the connected Joy-Cons repeatedly to charge all owned pairs.
While it may be late into the console’s lifespan with a Switch successor on the horizon, this new charging stand will be available in North America, Europe, and Japan on October 17th, 2024. While the product is currently only listed on the Japanese Nintendo Store page for 3300 Yen, (~$21 USD), we can likely assume a similar price for other available regions before shipping and tax.
Notably, promotional images posted to the Nintendo of America X account show that the charging stand can be removed from its stand to be used as a handheld controller while charging, similarly to other Joy-Con controller accessories.
