Nintendo Switch Firmware Update Version 18.1.0 Released, Twitter Integration Removed

Goodbye to X (Formerly Twitter)

The latest Nintendo Switch Firmware update has been released, with the Version 18.1.0 update now available for users to download. While recent updates to the system software haven’t been known for bringing any major new changes recently, the main inclusion for this update is the removal of X (Formerly known as Twitter) integration.

This comes after an earlier announcement from Nintendo on May 10th stated that on June 10th, players would no longer be able to post screenshots or videos directly to X from the Nintendo Switch Album, or send friend requests to social media users via the system. This change would also affect in-game sharing features for some other games from the company such as Splatoon 2 and 3, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Nintendo further notes that while sharing directly from the Switch to Facebook will still be possible, they may also choose to discontinue this service as well at a later date.

As a result, players who wish to share their screenshots and recordings to X will now need to utilize alternative methods for transferring content from their switch.
